Founded in 1962, The American School of Barcelona (ASB) is the first school in Barcelona to start the International Baccalaureate (IB) in English. Open for students in 3-18 age-groups, ASB offers a university preparatory curriculum which provides its graduates access to American, Spanish and international universities.
ASB is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). It is recognized in Spain as a foreign school by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
It also receives a grant from the US Department of State's Office of Overseas Schools and belongs to the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS) and European Council of International Schools (ECIS). ABS has scored above the IBDP world average every year since it started granting the diploma in 2009.
Its mission is to empower the students to become global citizens with critical thinking skills and self-confidence. Its aim is to be recognized as a leading international school in Europe.
