Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA) was founded by John Phillips in 1781 to provide good quality material and moral education to students and help them to find their place in the world. This co-educational school offers education to students from grades 9 through 12 and houses over 1100 students from US and 33 foreign countries.
This is basically a boarding school where 80% students live in hostels but 20% are also day scholars who commute from local towns. This is a co-educational school with 50:50 ratio of boys and girls.
PEA encourages curiosity and cultivates individual potential of each scholar. It has one of the best student-teacher ratio (5:1) in the world and offers as many as 450 courses in 18 subject areas. Moreover, it extends its students opportunity to explore, challenge and create.
The school believes that knowledge and high moral qualities go hand in hand. Without perfection in knowledge, good qualities do not help in the long journey of life and the opposite is also true. Hence, the school strives to unite knowledge and goodness.
